Should a ban come with a hearing or appeal on a forum?

There are many forums that i have seen and that i have been a part of where they are able to ban the members if they are not following the rules of the forum, however sometimes i feel that there are mistakes that can be made and perhaps the algorithm may get it wrong and identify an account as spam even if it is not. On your forum that you use do you hold an appeal process for banned accounts and do you think that this is a good idea for forums that are developed in the future?

Staff and the power should ban someone only after a lot of deliberation. The decision to ban someone should not come lightly. However, when someone is banned, I think there should not be any hearing or appeal. Second chances should be given before the ban, after the ban, the decision should be final.

I think it depends on the severity of why the person was banned to begin with. There are bans that I would issue right away, like in cases of racism, abuse, saying disgusting offensive things, etc. Sometimes saying the wrong thing can be an instant ban, and I don't give second chances to people who are racist, homophobic, sexist, etc.

If it's a small thing, like a temp ban, then maybe we'll hear the user out, give them another chance.

As for an appeal, it really depends on the ban. If it was spamming and making a scene, maybe I'll let them back, but anything to do with what I said above, they aint getting unbanned.
