If your product did not do well in the market there are probably many ways you can make things work out. To revive a dead product, changing name might not necessarily be required because some of the so called dead products were extincted not because customers rejected them but in most cases could be poor financial management. Well, In other to revive a fail product over the years, it's very important to find out what were the cause of it failure. If the reason are identified, then you find out solution to the various reasons that lead to it failure and not necessarily to change the name of your product.
