Referral traffic is the traffic that comes from social media sites. When you receive traffic from Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and other similar social media sites, you are getting referral traffic. You will get referral traffic by promoting your sites on social media. Social media is basically a free promotion platform, but you can also use advertising.

The problem is that you may bring traffic from Twitter or Pinterest or LinkedIn but for Facebook, it is extremely hard as they are blocking most of the external links on Facebook posts or even deleting them and banning your account, unfortunately.

referrals are the best way to get the name of your site and the uses out there and it is the best way to get people to join as well especially if you are offering some sort of referral bonus.

Facebook certainly isn't to a large degree. They simply don't expose your stuff that much - on purpose. Well, they have to make a profit. I can't really blame them.
I don't know what you are talking about. If I have a facebook page with 1000 followers, I can get into the feed of 1000 people, provided they are active users. If I boost my post, for $10, I might be able to reach 10 thousand facebook users who are not only follower list.

The easiest social media platform to get referral traffic from can depending on your niche and content. However, in general, platforms like Pinterest and Facebook can be relatively easier for driving referral traffic. But the other person that said Facebook is hard I might not agree with it

For me most is Pinterest,Pinterest is known for its ability to showcase visual content, making it suitable for blogs and selling products. Same goes Facebook and Instagram too.
