Do you think that major pirating is coming to an end or will very soon? thepiratebay has been forced to move domains a lot and although they claim to be working on ending the need for domains their is still the issue of where they will host their service. It seems privacy and piracy havens are becoming more strict.

Doubt it, I'm downloading right now as are so many other millions of people around the world. I believe there will always be a way, we're just going through a bit of a change at the moment. I'm using the TPB Browser and it works well imo.

I still stand by that people who pirate actually buy more than non-pirate people. I bought a £30 PC game the other day after DL'ing and playing. I go to concerts of people who's music I DL and buy merch, posters from their store (my r oom has loads of posters) etc. Whilst that may be seen as me justifying my sad downloading exisitence it's what I believe the majority of DL'ers do! I'd never DL a movie though, that's too far for me. :p

But what happens when they crack down on the servers that are storing the pirated content? I suppose you could have p2p but they'd have to figure out a way to make it anonymous. Then there is always the threat that ISPs will monitor your connection.

I don't think there will ever be a way to completely block out pirating. I will say one thing though, it has slowed down A LOT. However, this is not due to sites like TPB and such being forced to move domains or close down, but because a lot of things are going digital and companies are making it much easier for people to purchase stuff digitally.

If the dinosaur media companies actually wised up to how people want their TV shows,Films etc and stuff, they wouldn't have this problem. Having to wait like 3+ months for a film to go from Cinema to DVD is long if you wanna watch it. I'm still waiting for a Uk version of my favourite American TV show to come out on DVD. They've already moved onto a new series in America so I have to watch it online to keep track with my friends.

Think it's bad in UK - try NZ. :p I don't really watch Coronation Street but with the spare time I have at the moment I have been. I think we're 1 1/2 to 2 years behind. We were 2 years behind but I think we're slowly catching up.

2 years behind on Coronation Street? Lmao. That's like nearly 350-400 episodes behind xD

200 episodes a year? wth xD most tv shows produce about 12-24 a year xD

Coronation street is like a big thing here in the UK. :p Alongside two other soaps, we genreally get like 5 episodes a week at least i think every week. xD

That's the benefit of a soap. Loads of episodes and they don't get cancelled. In NZ we have Shortland Street. Australia has two main Soaps: Home and Away (which I watched for a few years but I'm not sure whether I'll keep watching) and Neighbours. Then the UK has Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders.

The settings are communities and they have constantly changing plot lines across a heap of characters.

Shortland Street- Hospital
Home and Away- Summer Bay (a beach town)
Coronation Street- A street in the Uk
Emmerdale- A town (I think - I've only watched a few episodes)

In terms of Episodes - Home and Away has been going since 1988 and has had 5885 episodes.

I don't know why everyone thinks that piracy will stop simply because they shut down one major site. For piracy to die completely they would have to stop all of the major sites as well as the smaller websites and even then I doubt that piracy would come to an end.

What I meant was widespread piracy. I'm sure their will always be enclosed groups with a few hundred members sharing stuff but sites like thepiratebay and primewire won't exist (unless they go p2p).

I doubt that with closing of TPB or any other major tracker will affect piracy. TBP actually regularly shares their website's content/information on their website, meaning that anyone can get access to all of the information needed to setup their own copy of TPB, not to mention that even after they run out of domains they can still go and re-brand themselves and therefore continue operating as they're right now.

Pirating will never go away even if the major sites are down. People will always send music to others and people will always pirate codes and other downloads.

It will never stop unless WW3 comes and it makes the whole Internet to shutdown.
First of all there is still TOR which is kind of anonymous. It's only last year they were able to crack down on the child porn and the silk road(illegal drug store) portals. Yet even now those exist in other names. So warez softwares and stuffs can be shared through that, I don't know if it is being shared through TOR now.

Then Pirate bay team is planning to use tor and some other technology in the Pirate Browser to make websites not important. All the data for torrents will be indexed/stored/distributed by the client browsers, so even if piratebay or all the torrent indexers go down, people can still see and download torrents.

I don't think it'll ever end entirely, but it could be minimised if media companies got their act together and reevaluated how they try to sell their products. Look at Netflix - you pay a small monthly fee and get access to a huge library. That's a much more attractive way of doing things, but it's like the music and film industries are still clinging desperately to how things used to be. This is why companies like HMV have died, they didn't adapt to how the world has changed.
