Admin Well-being Winning the Battle Against Yourself

When I first got into community building, I thought my biggest challenges would be setting up the forum, getting people to join, or keeping conversations alive. But it turned out my biggest struggle wasn’t about the forum at all—it was about fighting my own mental roadblocks. This is especially true for personal hobby sites where everything is on you.

I quickly realized I was up against “internal enemies.” Procrastination would make me put off important tasks. Perfectionism would make me question every little detail until nothing felt good enough to share. And insecurity would pop up, making me wonder if I was really cut out for this or if anyone would even care about the community I was trying to create.

• Do you find yourself dealing with procrastination, perfectionism, or insecurity in projects you care about?

• What strategies have worked for you in battling self-doubt and getting things done?

I do find myself dealing with procrastination more than anything. I usually will force myself to get out of these periods where I don't feel like posting on my websites right away. I believe I should start incorporating a time and day where I make sure I log into my accounts on my own websites, and start making posts and replying to existing threads. I think this can help me overcome my procrastination.
