Paid Membership

Do you sell memberships on your forums? What kind of members can your users buy, how much do they have to pay for the membership, and what are the perks and benefits your members get after upgrading their membership?
Well, I have not implemented membership options on my forums yet but I am considering adding a paid membership soon.

We do offer some user upgrades on one forum I co-own with multiple different ones that have different benefits.

They do tend to get purchased once in a while but not too often. We are always looking at ways to be able to change them up a little and offer perks that members would benefit from.

In my opinion, you will be able to sell paid memberships only when you are offering something tangible. I have see a lot of paid to post sites offer paid memberships and I see a lot of users frequently buy these memberships.

I'm a big fan of paid memberships and subscriptions, but I think you need to offer real value. On ForumExplorers, I'm still thinking through how to offer paid memberships that can provide real and genuine benefits to members.

If you want to monetize your community, you have two options, either to sell membership or implement ads. By the way, you can also use both. You can give leverage to the paid members to opt out from ads on the site. I have never been able to get paying members.

Social media is free, you can even make money form social media, so I do not think membership will actually work on your forums. Unless you plan to give something tangible, I do not think people will buy membership.
