Old instruments as collector's items

Have you seen an old musical instrument that can be sold for a high price? I remember seeing a tv documentary of the so called Stradivarius violin. It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. That made me think because my husband's family used to have a kind of classy violin. What if that vioilin was with us then probably we will put it on display so others can appreciate it. How about the drums of Ringo Starr? I'm sure it's already valuable by this time.
