What do you look for in a moderator if you are hiring one for your site?

I personally would look for the following:
  • Being an active participant
  • Be able to make clear posts/comments
  • Must be able to be mature

These are just a few of the things I would look for in a moderator. What about you? Can you provide insight on what you would look for?

As a moderator, I look for them to be an active member of the community, regularly taking part and creating discussions and obviously have to be friendly.

Moderators need to be active, they need to support the forum so that I am comfortable that they care. Of course being friendly and violation free are obvious points. Experience doesn't hurt but it is not a deciding factor when hiring for me.
