Minimalist site best?

One thing I found, is that a smaller site that isn't crowded with links, is better for regaining traffic. Do you find that to be the case for your sites? I like to make simple sites with minimal links. I feel the more stuff on a site, it can sometimes become too much. So I like to make simple, yet effective sites that get the point across. We don't need sites that are full of content, unless it's like a wiki or something.

What do you guys think though?

While it entirely depends on the tastes of people on a personal level, I myself like a more minimal approach, i hate crowded websites even if it wasn't with ads or links and was only crowded with its genuine content i'd find it annoying, Expressive and straight to the point platforms are the go-to for me , and i've seen many people thinking the same

Oh I haven't heard of minimalist site but based on how you put it let's refer to it as small sites. On small sites to me there is going to be less traffic it won't have to load for a long period time unlike large sites that could take minutes before coming up and also accessing small sites would be quite easier than accessing larger sites.

Zenhabits has designed very good website and it is one of the minimalist website. You may also find that nosidebar website has pretty much simple design and also minimalist design for you to watch out with. A lot of minimalist and simple designs are out there and they come in every now and then depending on how you want minimalism in the site.

I have a website and I have kept simple. I have three ad units on the homepage and categorized posts based on the topic. Since my website is a content site, where once can read articles, I have kept the background white (it is easy to red when the background is white). I have made the site user friendly and easy to navigate.

Minimalist sites load faster, take fewer server resources, and are often faster to develop than more graphically complicated designs. Plus, they give a professional, clean impression to visitors. Though minimal web design has fewer elements, however, it's not quite easy to create one.

You are absolutely correct, and I agree with you about this, the fewer the links on a site the more traffic it generate. This is because too much of links and backlinks can spoil the search engine optimization (SEO) of that site. It annoying when visitors comes over to your site to read things and then they are been interrupted by too much backlinks. Links are good but too much links can become a problem. Hence, minimize it.

One example is a blog site which main function is to display the blog and the list of existing blogs that you have uploaded already. It is a good candidate for a minimalist website design with just a few links in the web pages.

That is why I always advice that you shouldn't be too greedy when having a site because too much ads frustrate the customers and they might never come back again.

For me minimalist site is a site that does not have complicated design and formatting, use simple fonts and graphics, do not use too many ad units and does not have a lot of content on the home page.

I think it's a simple site for me. For one it will give you less stress to manage and you won't have to deal with lots of links as you said.

To me I think this actually depends on the size of your website. It's very important that you have links on your website so that it will give it more authority in the face of any search engine.
