Have you had either LiveJournal or Xanga? I started looking for some throwback things and found some of my old xangas. It brought happiness to me because of all the cool "themes" they had, I think they may have been called skins on there, but not sure. Xanga was pretty customizable and it was a blog sort of website. There were groups and etc to join and follow and that's how many of us from the same schools would follow one another. I was on this in middle school so around 2003-2006. I also know of Livejournal, I don't think I had a Livejournal, or if I did it was just to look at resources others had. I remember all the icons you could find on livejournal, of course with credit. It was such a creative time!

Sometimes I wonder if we can get back to that in a way. I know we have blogs, but it's not as much of a community anymore because it is people who create their own specific blog about whatever content and typically stay within that range of topics.

Feel free to post screenshots of your former sites if you had one of these!

Here are two of mine that I found. I even had a signature I used on forums based on the first layout.

I loved messing with the CSS! I think that was part of what got me comfortable with coding on invisionfree and Zetaboards!

Ah invisionfree, for the people that couldn't pay for hosting but wanted a forum. Then once you could afford hosting, or your friends were nice to host your site on their hosing. You either went with Ikonboard, invision board or PHPbb
