Is a gallery a good way to produce easy traffic?

I have the option to use a gallery on my forum but I am not sure if it would be a good way to generate traffic to my forum. Some people say yes and others say it is a waste of time. What are your thoughts?

I have a stand alone image hosting site that does quite well. I have never had people on forums want or desire a gallery though. It can be a good means to bring traffic if you have a forum centered around one theme and the people upload their own custom work.

I would highly encourage having people upload custom work.

I think it could be a great way to bring in more traffic. Today everything is more visual. Look at sites like Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube, they have blown up just by using images and video. I would try it and see how it goes.
