How to gain more Tumblr followers?

I just created a Tumblr account to promote my new t-shirt company. Any tips on how to gain more followers quickly?

Just spread the word to your friends and try promoting on ForumPromotion.net . They offer other areas of promotion other than just forum and blogs.

Spread the word in all ways that you are able to, promotion forums, word of mouth and even in your signatures on forums you frequent is a good place to gain good exposure for your tumblr account. Maybe even consider creating a Facebook page to advertise what you have to offer and letting any followers you get on Facebook know you also have a tumblr could be ideal.

Putting a link to your Tumblr in your signature on all the forums you're a member of is probably the best place to start. Write engaging content on the Tumblr because remember content is king. YouTube could also be a good outlet if you use it properly. Also, following similar Tumblrs usually results in a good spread of word.

Post or reblog content related to your own from other blogs. From what I noticed (and I build a few tumblr blogs myself) if you post only your products you'll get nowhere. After you build a strong following you have more choices on how and when you promote. Because let's be honest, will you follow a blog that only promotes products? Probably not. Especially not tumblr users that have their "own" culture and tend to be picky.

First, you can ask your friends, family and colleagues to like your Tumblr and then suggest your page to other people. Second, you can also promote your site in forums, through blog posts or by writing a press release. Third, you can join random chats (if you don't have a go-to chat room) and sincerely ask the people there to like your Tumblr account. You may also buy your way to more followers but if you find this uncomfortable, then you can just send outreach emails requesting people to follow your site.

I would purchase advertisements on popular sites and botting your followers isn't the way. Spread it offline?

Tumblr's demographic is mostly younger females. Promote t-shirts and content that they would like. Promotional material could be just someone wearing a t-shirt. Pictures with quotes could probably get you some followers as well.

You should give people something of value for them to follow you, who wants to subscribe to a service that's basically advertisement for t-shirts? Even if the t-shirts are cool, unless they are very interesting and unique, why should anybody care? Try to create a community first, then sell the t-shirts. When it comes to Tumblr, niche is the name of the game, find a niche, start sharing content related to your niche and, once in a while, promote your merchandise, much better if your designs are related to the niche that you pick.
