How long should a newsletter be?

I think sending out a newsletter every month at the least is ideal to keep up appearances and to keep your audience updated. Of course not everyone will be subscribed, but those who are, will be updated. Anyway, I was curious how long you usually make your newsletter? I like to make my newsletters fairly short, but to the point. Update them on what's happening, the site, updates, etc. The usual stuff newsletters are for. Might also add in some ads and other promotion as well. What about you?

It is better to use internal site messaging better than sending email because most of sites are sending newsletter to users but read all of them needs a life to accomplish it and time on internet is pressed for example.

I would think 3-5 sentences with some bulleted points and an image perhaps may all that be needed to really bring people in. Sometimes for those larger updates it might be a bit longer, but otherwise I think it is a good amount. You want to be inviting and advertising to get them to return - but you don't want a too long of an email because they may not even read it.

Personally, I don't find easy to read any newsletter that's too long. Once I open the mail and scroll through it and find out it's too long, there's no way I would be interested in reading. I would just delete the mail immediately!

The reason why such email are sent to the users who initially registered on their website is so that those who have been offline on the website will actually get the email and know exactly what happened happening on the website for a while and probably decide to come back.

This could be true if you receive 10 newsletters a month for 10 sites but what happens exactly let's say you are registered to 200 websites and every day the website of each one of them sends a newsletter every day so if a newsletter gets 3 minutes read that is 300 minutes read means 6 hours on the internet just reading newsletters of new websites and then after 2 hours you do other staffs does it seems logic to spend 6 hours every day reading newsletters?

The simple truth is that it is going to be very difficult for you to be active on 200 website at once. Probably you must have registered on all of them over a period of time but there is no way you can keep up with all of them which is why you can easily choose the newsletters you can read and probably give your attention.

This is the truth the email becomes a little rude with newsletters because you register and then they start sending out newsletters and half of them are weekly or daily which means you need to filter them on Google for deletion once received or create a new one.

This is actually the reason why I would simply unsubscribe to any mailing list that I find to be annoying and not giving me exactly what I want so that I will stop getting their newsletters whenever they send it out.
