On your website(s), how do you style your social media icons? Do you go for a simple look, a complex look? Do you make it match the background? How do you do it?

I usually style mine in a minimalistic way... nothing too fancy but I would still want it to stand out somewhat. I keep it consistent with the way the website is designed. Consistency is hugely important!

Make sure that it stands out but also matches the website. If it is a poor design, people will be reluctant to click.

I just use text and a basic silhouette if the site could use a logo. I may end up paying for one to make them look more professional.
