For your forum, how do you run it? What's the atmosphere like?
I run my forum simply as a community....While I am the 'leader', I also more or less view myself equal to my users and I don't really want to be viewed as higher. I don't expect people to respect me because I am owner...I'd rather you flat out hate me and let it be known then just like me because of a silly title. Our community is ran mostly by a united group decision where we discuss things as a community and I will usually go with the majority. However, I also make sure to work with the minority to make sure I can get them on the same page.

Our community is more democratic than anything.

I will always my run forums as follows. The major decisions will by the administration team and will be will over seen by myself. I am the leader of the forum but I do listen to the suggestions of the members because I want to improve my website.

Indeed you cannot please everyone but you can make an effort to come up with mutual agreements that benefit everyone as much as possible. :)
