You should have introduced give away only on order to keep users. You should have introduced the give away together with other thing, maybe dishing out quality information that will keep them wanting more.

Getting people to stick around after a giveaway is very difficult and I think that the only way that you can do this is to constantly improve on the website in order to make it more engaging for them and offer them new ways that they can use to earn. If you do this they will be constantly interested and what developments are coming in the future and has a result it will keep these users active.

When we started the forum of our office website I initiated a token for new members who will be active in posting. We paid the first 5 members who joined and who made at least 10 posts. It was cool but after a week those 5 were gone and never heard of again. I don't think a giveaway of any kind will do good to a site. It is better to have a raffle maybe every month for that purpose.

You can do this by trying to know what those set of people are really interested in. If yours is a blog for instance, you can start creating contents about what those people are interested in.
