How do you get paid at work by cash or bank transfer?

I was in a discussion with my friend last month and he mentioned that there was a friend of his who told him that they still get paid by cash at their workplace. They will even have to sign before taking the cash payment as evidence they have been paid. I think that the world have passed that stage with all the improvement we have in the banking sector.

Bank transfer, it's absolutely the standard for regular employment here.

My experience is that anyone paying cash is doing so to hide something.

My employer will only do direct deposit, so you'll either need a bank account or at least a service like Chime so they have an account to add your money to. Pretty much all employers where I live only do direct deposit, rarely anyone gets a paper check or cash anymore.

Both of my part-time jobs do direct deposit. An employer paying in cash seems like a mom-and-pop business to me.

I have direct deposit, I don't think we have any other form, such as picking up a check or anything. My husband did just get checks and have to deposit into his account with the bank app. People working with only cash are often trying to go around having to pay taxes.
