I have a love/hate relationship with my Mac Mini now. After 11 years of ownership, the Hitachi drive decided it wanted to slow the system down (odds are bad sectors showing up on the spinning platters).
Never have had to restore the Mini since I've had it.... find a spare 1TB SSD drive in a drawer so off we go to pull the old drive and replace it with the new..... only to figure out Time Capsule only backs up your files, not your OS. So now time to re-install OS X Mountain Lion that it shipped with... then upgrade to El Capitan manually... or at least that was the plan. A no-go there as El Capitan had a package that kept not being able to be read (corrupted file from Apple?)
So, time to clone the drive using the Mac OS disk utilities in recovery mode you say? Yep... nope... since there were 2 partitions on the drive, no go with that also.
Finally after much research (and 23 hours later)... discovered that during boot up using the Option/Command/R is your friend. Installs the latest version of Mac OS on your Mac computer (that it supports). Then use Time Capsule to restore from and I'm back in business. And the Mini has a new life given to it.
The recovery aspect in Windows is so much better... simply make a recovery image using Windows 7 backup... make sure when you go to restore that your drive is at least as large a your recovery image drive was. If it's bigger, a little more work to get all the space, but still only a couple of hours worth of time at worst.

I'm doing great today! I've been enjoying my Friday, even if I had to get up early to take my best friend over to his friend's house. They got a train going to Peoria Illinois for a Pokemon convention. Their train left at around 8 am so we had to pick him up from his condo around 6:30. I ended up going back to sleep for a little bit around 9:50 after watching The Boogeyman which was good btw. I'm going to the park in a few hours to enjoy the cool weather we're finally getting here too. :D
