I don't think that an eCommerce have any business with using an escrow payment system. They will never release their products to any customer until they have received payment for such products.

In many cases, the customer may be concerned about getting scammed. In such kind of cases, the company may be forced to use the escrow system and there should be nothing wrong with that. Escrow helps protection to both the seller and the buyer.
