Have you used fake accounts to advertise?

I've seen it a lot on forums where owners create decoy accounts to build some kind of active presence on their site in order to encourage others visiting the site to stay and engage in the discussion while they will slowly withdraw those fake accounts from a active participation.

Have you ever used this strategy for advertising, promoting and building traffic on your website?

I have in the past used accounts that are branded for a site to advertise on other sites to help with promotion for sites but it's not something I would say that I do all the time.

In most cases, it is better to keep advertising separate sites under a branded account I feel so yu can better keep track of everything.

No, I haven’t used fake accounts to advertise my forum. I use my forum’s name to promote or I use my personal social media accounts to promote.

I’m not a fan of using decoy accounts to promote my brand.
