As a forum owner myself of over 10 years now, I have had my fair share of people who have seen my forum and decided to copy either some of what I have laid out on the forum or out right copy everything I have on the forum making their forum pretty much a copy cat of mine. This can often leave you frustrated and a little angry when someone comes along and just copies just about everything with nothing unique for themselves.

Have you ever had this happen to you in the past where someone has either copied bits of your forum or where someone has pretty much copy and pasted your forum down to a T. How did you deal with it when you found out they had copied your forum?

I myself on the occasions I have found people copying my forum have politely asked them if they would change their forum up a little so it was pretty much a copy and paste of mine. Most of the time they will apologize and change things up and other times they will give me grief and refuse to do so. I had that issue at one point where I had politely asked someone to change their forum up a little and they accused me of copy and paste, that was not fun to deal with at all.

I do not have an issue with been inspired by my works for you to create something else but I get annoyed when my work is replicated, it is very painful if you have ever been in this sort of situation before.

No, i don't own a forum currently and so i haven't experienced someone trying to steal bits or my whole forum. I'm sure this is not a nice experience and i wouldn't want it to happen to me.

The thing about the parallel market is that you are always going to have instances where by people are going to try to steal your creativity and most of the times there is almost nothing you can do about it.

it does happen that is why you need to be very innovative in what you are doing so as to set a proper benchmark that people can not contend with, but there is a way to safe guard your innovations now.

Yes you're absolutely right by saying this, it doesn't make any sense, I think it is in other way refer to as plagiarism, though I don't have forum of my own, but I don't think if it's a nice experiencing that

when someone steals your content, it is indeed very painful as you would not like this same thing if it happens to you as a person and you should avoid doing it to someone else

It can get quite frustrating when someone blatantly rips off your content, more so without acknowledging the original creator. This is why copyright measures have been put in place to protect intellectual property

This is one of the things that I do not take for granted in the digital space. People usually take out a lot of time in order to design original content and as such nobody should just copy it from them and make money off it.

If you want your site to stand out very well, you need to try and be innovative, create your own design and you would have enough crowd that would stick with your brand for a long time

I don't know why people will be copying cat someone forum or website. They should be punishment for that. It's not funny. I have seen people who copy people website to the point of copying their theme. It's bad.

There are also some people that is going to make it extremely difficult for you even after you have caught them. The best way to go about this is to notify their hosting provider about it and they are going to take action.

I have never created a copycat. Well, I can not swear on this because sometimes while moving sites, I create a copy of the live version of the site in order to avoid losing data. However, I delete these sites after the migration is completed.

So you have also ever experienced this, it annoys me the more anytime I experience instance like that, it's very important that you should let the real owner to be aware of it, before making any progress.

People copy website for various reasons, some get inspiration to create something better, or to have an idea of what they want to create and as such I do not see it as a crime.

Well, there's a thin line between copy another person website and get idea from another website. Getting ideas, like design, theme and other things about another website is not a crime. But copying, make your own website a replica of, another person website is a crime.

Well, copy cat exists because they love your structure and designs of your website, but there is need for them to make known to the public that they are not the owner of the designs but copy from person so as to gain more reputation.
