One thing I often worry about, is someone stealing my website code and using it as their own. Has this sort of thing ever happened to you? How did you end up dealing with it?

That sounds funny though. But it can really happen. I personally have not experienced it myself. I'm wondering how the feeling of seeing a replica of your website will be?

Well I have never experienced that, no one has ever stolen my website code from me, you should keep your website code very safe. If someone stole your, he might hack your account

Well, I don't have a website and I do not do programming. Therefore, the question does not apply to me but if this happens to anyone this must be very scarry thing to experience

I'm not a programmer or a website developer but If I ever have the opportunity to be one, I wouldn't be so careless to allow such to happen to me

I remember an experience when I just started to learn to code so we formed a team to build our first website which we did, we were able to pool in a lot of ideas and then by the time the project ended a guy stole the codes and sold them on GitHub, it was painful.

When you put hours, days, or even months into a website, the last thing you want is for anyone else to copy your concept without giving you due credit (or compensation). It's an even bigger issue if you're a template or theme designer. After all, if the models are freely accessible online, many people would not pay for them.

No one has stolen website code for me before, I can't even allow that happen to me. This is because my cold is very private to me not even my brother knows my code it's personal

I haven't had a website before, so no one has ever stolen a website code from me before, but my brother has been a victim to this before.

Thank God for you, there are many scammers here pretending to be a close friends , once they have access to your account or able to view your code, your account is gone.

I don't own a website at the moment. But I'll tell you its possible to steal your personal website details and claim to own it or flip it off to make their own profit. It happens when the owner is using a crackable password, very weak password as the website code.

I dont have a website and i know little about it but the question is how would you know that someone has stolen your website code. Will there be any notification or side effect

How come you made your website code public. I have not lost code through theft but there is nothing bad in giving someone your programming code.

Have seen many that look and feel the same, and seen people copy and paste other peoples work. I have my own custom work on my site that no other site has. On that point, it's hard or not easy to find who has stolen your code and edited it. But so far nope.

I had one person messaged me some time ago that join my site and find the site on another site, and he owns the same forum software and he messaged me saying about what I did on one of my pages and wondering where I got that from, told him that it's custom made code. It was very simple CSS/HTML anyway.. Next, he/she was like cool I run this site and wondering if I can have that myself, and he said he would have to edit it to fit his needs.

I gave him permissions and then that week, I was helping him to get it running. his site now is no longer running LOL

This is one major reason why some people prefer to be private about what they are working on until it's time for it to be published. I don't see any need sharing your website code with people, even if it's friends.

No ever stole my website codes before to the best of my knowledge. You should sign up for a lot of premium web tools to get your site very protected from brut hackers always. It is safer that way than just leaving your site running without one

It happens rare but you can't do anything as anyone can see your code through Source code option but sometime codes use private codes so when someone copy your code, it redirect to your page.

I have a website, but I don't made it with codes. I used wordpress and a free template. Anyway I edited almost tottaly, but not with codes, I know to less about programming so I don't risk to broke my all work

This has not happened to me. However, my website content has been stolen numerous times and due to stolen content I have heavily suffered losses.
