What is the most effective ways that a forum owner can use to make sure spammers are dealt with as it is obvious you cannot stop them from joining your forum at all.

From my own opinion, I think giving out rewards for those who report spammers would go a long way in helping to make sure they're properly handled.

What do you think?

The best way to keep the forum clean is by issuing penalties to the spammers. That was what the owner of trendri does and it's really working. If you are found spamming certain credit would be deducted from your account.

Trendri is a good forum however people are thinking the moderation team is an idiot by either copy-paste from external resources or even translating french articles or Spanish articles to English and pasting them thinking that the admin will pay them for the effort made by other people.

You can stop probably most of them. I mean, so many of them are spambots. In that case, some strong protection at user registration is what's needed. Well, in my case, I ask people to spell a word backward.

Anyhow, for the people who are not spambots, you simply have to keep banning them and also utilize professional anti-spam software.

Don’t use or post your business or personal email address publicly, always ignore spam messages, and install spam filtering and anti-virus tools.

When I have someone who keeps trying to join back, I will IP band them as well as block their e mail. I also don't allow people to join using VPNs without being screened. They automatically get put into moderation no matter what they post or where.

Spammers can be either Bots or Humans. To block bots can implement Captcha, but this makes forum posting a little difficult. To avoid human spammers, can allow only registered members to post. If they post spam content, we can easily block their ID which can also delete all their posts.

I completely agree with you and if people are given some sort of monetary reward for the activities that they are doing such as reporting this activity then obviously they will become more active to look for it and make sure that the forum is of high quality.

Given how to reward to people who are constantly trying to spam the forum is one of the great ways to give with it. This is going to ensure that they are identified and removed on time.

One of the things you need to be on the watch out if you have a forum is spamming activities by some members. This is why it is important for you to employ a moderator if you cannot really do the work by yourself.

I would definitely try to stop them and issue several warnings to them. If they do not stop, then I may not have any other option but to ban them. However, I will never ban them outright.

For sure you would need to warn them but if they continue after that you will have to take action and ban them. It's always good to have a team of mods as well that can handle that stress for you.

The problem of spammers is increasing and I think that forums are not the only platform that are being affected by such kind of spammers. Even social media sites are not that safe either.

to let people understand the policy of Bizdustry regarding trash and plagiarism Posts:
if we detect +5 trash or plagiarism posts from a user, we'll warn him (a Pm will be sent to his chat including the trash posts to show him/ her mistake and 1000 Biznotes will be deducted as a punishment.

> 10 trash/ plagiarism Posts, we'll directly ban him.

Put 20-30 posts into moderation for every new members. This will allow you to see whether the poster is a genuine member or just a spammer. Adding captcha for everything they create posts will also help to control spamming.

From my experience, content moderation is the best way to handle spamming issues in either forums or blog. Once they see that their contents aren't getting approved, they would walk away. Although, I have seen some that keep trying over and over again in order to know if they can have a break through. You can also moderate your registration process too.

sometimes at the beginning members write quality posts but after months, they started posting low-quality and made illegal activities. It always requires paying attention to the newest posts and take decisions depending on the issue.

That's very true. You can also test their patience by putting 50 posts into moderation ad manually approving the posts. I think these days spammers have that kind of passion to make 50 posts to get approval. You can also check run plagiarism test to see if they are copying and pasting content.

Well, spamming also involves posting referral links continuously and posting irrelevant comments. This is a really big problem and hard to manage. However, I think that the number of moderator on the forum play a major role to get rid of such kind of messages.
