Giving up a forum

Advertisement Placeholder
I have given up on forums numerous times before. I'm not proud of it as it was in many cases because I gave up too easy and didn't fight for the community. Or found something that sparked my interest more.

Over the years, yes. Lack of time, lack of interest from users, lack of interest from me in some specific cases, one time the result of poor moderation choices, one time external cultural factors.
This is one of reasons why most people give up on their forum. It's not that the forum isn't working but they lack time to carry it along and if they insist, it's going to affect the overall performance and productivity of the community. I can remember when @Ash had to give up on his forum discussionhub.io as a result of not having the time to run it.

I've done this a few times. It's usually because I end up not having enough time to dedicate to my forum, and thus I can no longer post nor work on the community and then I shut it down. I usually don't make database backups either, but in rare cases I will back up the community just in case I wish to bring it back at a later date.
