Giving second chances to someone you fired?

Have you ever given second chances to someone you fired? Maybe you considered giving them another shot as they made up for the past mistakes they made. Or maybe they are a new person, renewed and ready to work and follow the rules. Would you give someone you fired a second chance? And what would it take for you to do that?

It's highly dependent on the situation. Obviously, some situations would warrant it and others not.
