Let's face it, all forums or most forums have a set of rules that their members need to follow. That being said, for your forums, what rules are always incorporated into your projects? For me, I do not allow spamming at all. Actually, my staff is asked to automatically ban a user for spamming on the forum as we have a zero tolerance policy for it. Another frequent rule is that threats of violence and death, stalking, etc. are prohibited on any of my sites. If a user is caught doing any of those things, not only are they banned, but the authorities are notified to cover my own butt in case an incident is reported to me and a user actually gets hurt.

I don't have too many rules on my forum as I want it to be a pretty chill place. The biggest rules I have on my forum though are no pornography images/links to porn sites. Anyone caught doing that is banned immediately and anyone caught PM advertising is banned immediately. Those are my two biggest rules and I think I have just 5 rules in total on my forum.

Spamming, racism, and vulgar language is always prohibited. The internet is open to a wide variety of age groups, meaning the children have access to the internet and can come across your forum. It's always important to keep it clean and suitable for all audiences.

Another thing about forum rules, I've come across a few forums who haven't written them down yet. Or forums that have them hidden. Forum rules should be the first thing written on a new forum, and the rules should be displayed in a place where every visitor will have easy access to it.

I have lots of rules, I also have rules for Staff Members, Contact Templates and a list of what Staff should do in certain situations.

I think that the most important rule should be the length of one of the posts that they make in order to try and prevent spam and this will ensure the quality as well.

I guess that following rules on the forum is an essential part of being a member. I have always tried to follow all the rules in a really diligent manner and I have always been successful on the forums.

I think there should be zero tolerance policy for spamming. However, sometimes the the question of spam can also be very tricky. If you are posting a lot of content in a short time, someone would classify you a spammer, but what if you are providing useful content with your posts?

Since I want my forum to be a relaxed environment, I don't have many regulations there.
However, the main guidelines I have on my forum are that there are to be no pornographic photographs or connections to porn sites.
Anyone seen doing it will be instantly barred, as would anyone found PMing.
I believe I have just 5 rules altogether on my forum, and those are the two most important ones.

I have simple rules. All posts need to be written in grammatically correct English and reflect the close reading of the topic. I discourage members from making spam posts and harass other members.
