Flood control

I learned of this while on Xenforo forums. I don’t recall Proboards having this option, not that I know of anyways. From what I gathered, owners can set it so people don’t post so often. Say, they need to wait 1 to 2 minutes. Do you use it on your forum? What is it set at? Is it helpful or a hindrance to your members? What are the benefits?

I use it and I just set it to 10 seconds, which I think helps a bit with mass spammers and trolling.

I have seen some forums that have their flood control time set at 70 seconds. It's definitely a pain posting on such forums. I get the purpose of using it but making it too long is a big discouragement for me.

Defintely, wouldn't want to bother either. If a member wants to post, let them post. If it's bad quality then just talk to them respectfully. But they are forming your community and discouraging your members will kill the vibe and your community.

I used to hate it! I used to post quickly and still have meaningful responses usually. People would have it set to 30 seconds or more killed me. I was less likely to post and more than likely quicker to lose the link to the forum. I get the purpose of it, but it does get annoying.

I usually turn flood control off for premium or vip member groups. I'll keep it on for regular users though. I get the purpose of having flood control, especially back when forums were more popular because you could get a spammer posting back to back causing issues.

i think its 5-10 seconds at LENS, in agree anything above 10 would be extremely annoying!
