Fake members?

You have heard about when first starting a forum you should make fake accounts and post as those members to help make the forum look active and give your forum more posts/topics and content. What are your thoughts on this? Personally I find this to be cheap and people can eventually find out what your doing. You can also get burned out fast by doing this. There's no way I would ever do this.
I think that this is a very bad idea and in my opinion i think that it is much better to just pay real people in order to post on the forum instead.

This is my favorite activity. I think it is better to open your forum to the public with some topics created by fake members so that a newly registered user can reply to it instead of a forum where there are no topics. UNless you have friends and family willing to help you, it is not easy to bring early members on a forums with no posts

This is something that I have seen many do and I will admit I have done in the past and in the early days of my forum being open to be able to get some content on the forum so that there is something for visitors and members to interact with.

I wouldn't say it is cheap or unprofessional if I am honest, it's a way of starting your forum off which I see no issue with.

I agree to it as well and it's really cheap way.I'm against to it too using fake members to make a forum appear active. It may give a false impression of engagement and can harm the trust and credibility of the community. Genuine discussions and interactions are what make a forum valuable.

How do you bring members on day one, or even in a week? Do you think people will come to post topics on a forum where there are no posts? fake members are good for giving your forum a good start but using fake members fotr a long time is not good.

I believe that whenever you want to work on a community project, you should always find a way to spend a little on your project which means that you can hire paid posters to actually make some contents on your forum. This is going to enable new people that are coming to see where they are going to engage in discussion. It doesn't mean that it's something that you're going to be doing all the time but make sure that there is something there which people can actually consume when they join your community.
