Drum tuning

How often do you do any tuning and do you do it yourself or do you have it professionally done? Do you have any tricks that could help a novice do a good tune? What about special equipment to do it and one last question, how long does it take to do on your own?

Pardon me for my ignorance. But I didn't know that drums needed to be tuned. All I know that needed tuning are the guitar and the piano. Just like the brass (trumpet), the drums are just the same to me that their sound has no tune at all. Can someone elaborate on this tuning of drum? It is for my added knowledge only.

From what I read, drum notes correspond to a pitch, but not one in-sync with harmonic intervals (like a piano or guitar). Anyway, if the drums aren't tuned to specific in-harmonic pitches, they often sound bad.
