Does spamming content matter for traffic?

I have come across a couple of forums where there are threads like "Count from A-Z" or " Count from 1-100". This a pure spam the way I see it because such content doesn't add much value to the forum but only posts count. But I still see some forum owners allow it. Does it mean that it's got some benefits that I'm not aware of?
Spamming in my opinion is bad for many reasons it's not good for forum and that's why owners ban peaple who spam all the time

On a big forum the spamming could be easily done because spammers may post inappropriate advertising on long threads and users that are discussing doesn't pay attention and pay attention to the replies between them. For small comminities things differs.

in small communities it would be very noticeable as there are very small users on the platform that would take note of what is going on but if it is a big platform i believe it would be very hard to take note of.

Yeah, the effect is greatly felt in small communities, this is because they users age just little and ever person knows each other. But reverse is the case in large communities.

Personally, I am not a fan of spanning because it undermines the authenticity of the forum, and I think there are more organic ways to attract traffic to your website. It is good that some websites do not tolerate this action

If it's your forum, you create the rules. If you don't want people coming in and making topics like "Count to a million" or "the ABC game" or whatever, then block people from making those type of topics. Or if you want them, add them to areas where it's not in the main focus of the forum, also, I know some forum owners make those posts not count towards their total post count.

But either way, it doesn't really matter that much. It may be spam to some, but people enjoy these types of topics, even if it provides nothing of value outside of making users happy.
