If you have a forum, and you have a twitter and Instagram page and facebook page for it, what stops people from using those social media posts instead of your forum?

Well, with my Facebook stuff, I use it as a strong page for information. Nonetheless, I also use it for a gateway to my forum which has a lot of information and is growing. In that case, the Facebook situation is very useful because, well, a lot of possible visitors are on social media and you need to go where the people are.

If you use social media to promote your forum, it helps. But generally, I believe social media destroys forums because nowadays, majority of people prefer social media over forums.

If you have forum you can use your social media to promote your forum, social media is very good when it comes to advertising your business or whatever you can use Facebook to promote it.

If you want to promote your business, social media is a powerful tool for you. It depends on how you manage it.

Besides that, it is important to be persistent in order to get the right benefits through social media. Moreover, it is also essential to be 'social' and be receptive to the posts made by other people.

Lack of Popularity, lack of quality information, dull back ground and write up, Can stop people from using your forum, but when your forum can solve people's problem with quality information, people will always come in.

Social media is a a good way of advertising your products but I think forums is more better than social media sometimes, my reason for saying that is because not all people on your social media have idea on the things online, I think forums is more better.

Actually social media can really helped in promoting and also destroying forums at the same time depending on how individuals makes used of it and the impact if the forum on individuals.

Current social media platforms so much popular in youth, because these platforms providing all type information, most of the youth audience gets their information from these platforms, so directly or indirectly these social media platforms destroying forums and websites.

Social media if properly managed can be used to promote forum if you have a lot of audience in it and also a good reputation. It can also destroy forum when the social media platform is no more reputable.

I believe that it is time that we start looking at them as different things who are seven different problems. I do not think they are in any kind of competition.

Social media are only used it to promote forum. People can come to the forum through social media. Many forum owners today have a social media page created for their forum.

Facebook, Twitter, etc. are social media platforms. They function as a means to share about yourself and focus on yourself. Forums are social networks that focus on a certain topic or niche bringing people together. Both are entirely different things but I do know places like Reddit have created more issues with new sign-ups for forums than Facebook or Twitter.

I'm the exact opposite.
I've always preferred forums over social media because forums are where you find so much useful information. Also, in general, they seem smaller...I like that.
Social media sites are just so huge and overwhelming to me. Esp. Facebook. I will never return to Facebook... that place makes my head spin. The constant notifications, live message chat requests ughh no thanks. Twitter is more laid-back.. I don't mind Twitter so much. But I still spend most of my time reading and interacting on forums.

I also believe that forums are far much better than many social media sites. On social media sites, you will be able to find many trolls. However, it is really unlikely that you will find trolls on a paid forum.

Actually the social media platforms has diverse ways to which they are being used depending on people choice. Some can be used to promote and also destroyed depending on peoples experiences.

The biggest issue with social media platform is that they allow people to misuse the platform. There are many people who use really bad language on the platform and spread propaganda.

Actually there is no absolute limitation to the usage of the social media platforms. some misused it for self purposes and there are also people who use for a better society.

well there are certain things that forums usually bring to the table, the participatory aspect of discuss and an oppourtunity to interact in a close knited manner, and also there are categories of topics in forum.

To some extent yes. Forums aren't as popular as they once were, and that's just a fact. But, it doesn't mean forums are dead. Where social media can provide social interaction with people and discussion, I believe forums are still the best place for in depth discussion. Social media is too crowded, too much going on, and I think there are many people who prefer the touch of a forum over facebook or twitter, because they can express their opinions and thoughts in more depth and detail, while social media makes that a bit tough at times.
