In 2016, I created a portfolio website. My primary motive for creating a portfolio website was to sell my freelancing services. I was selling through SEOClerks and Upwork and I wanted to use my own website to offer freelancing services and save money that I was giving away as a commission to the freelance marketplaces. Have you tried something like this. have you sold your services through your website?

Yes of course, it's the essence of working online as a freelancer for me. I have been doing it for years in Fiverr, Upwork and Seoclerks. I have sold over $1000 orders on Seoclerks and other freelancing websites. I make of forum's marketplace too to sell my services the same way I do it on Fiverr, Upwork and Seoclerks.

Fiverr remains the best and most popular website where one can sell any services they can work on for clients. There are services I never knew freelancers can offer until I checked out the listing of services on Fiverr. I've used Fiverr but never had much success with it. I can't sell my own services on my own website.

Since Fiverr gained so much success, there are many other services that have also started to offer services that seem similar in nature. For example, Sproughtgigs is one such kind of freelancing service that seems to be one of the best service provider when it comes to freelancing. However, you can also create your own website and offer services as well.

I'm very aware of Sproughtgigs and how good the freelancing website is in selling services of freelancers. Seoclerks is among the top freelancing websites like Fiverr and Upwork. If you're a freelancer who sells his services online but never used either of those websites, you're still playing.

I have no means of monetization on my forum. I suppose I could sell advertising space, but I just allow people to purchase that with forum credits. If I used paid forum software, I would more likely have ways to monetize my site to keep up with funding my board, but the only thing I actually pay for on my forum is a domain name.

Maybe you can sell your service (for instance, web designing, forum management, etc.), through your website. maybe some of your users would want to hire you?

The member base you have is what's going to determine if they are likely to buy your service listed on your website. If you know that your members doesn't stand a chance with buying your services, it's a waste of time trying to sell it to them.

It's a possibility, but you won't get as many people willing to pay for your services on free software as paid software. I've kind of always offered my coding skills in the public forum freely. I've tried a few ways to make money with my coding skills, but I've never had much success.

If you have built a site on blogspot or forum motion, which are free hosted blog and forum, it is understandable that people will not trust you. But I think you can use open source content management and build a good website to sell your services.

I'm not sure about the particular public forums where you have tried selling your coding skills, but if you know about Seoclerks, that's where I would recommend for you to try and set up selling your coding skills services. With any luck, there's a very big chance that you're going to sell.

This is not something I have used at the moment but it is something that I am very much wanting to do for my freelance business.

I am often asked for a portfolio so they can see my work but not having that at the moment, I end up having to send them to previous articles I have written on my forum which as much as they are happy to see that, I do not feel is very professional at the moment.

While having an independent site for listing your portfolio can be good you can also create a subdomain on your forum and use the subdomain for your portfolio website.
