There's discussion in America right now about the corporate rebrand of one of the biggest retail companies in the world of Walmart. It's a huge clothing, groceries and home store that sells a little bit of everything. Their logo is the iconic "spark" that's come to represent great value.

Other iconic brands include McDonalds, Starbucks, the Nike swoosh logo and more.

Do you think your community or your brand's logo is iconic, to be recognizable to your audience on its own?

I think we all try to find something distinctive to make our sites stand out from another. These are some examples for sites I regularly visit on my iPhone.

They all are fairly distinctive. I do need to work on mine some. You want something attention getting that fits the site.

I have you blocked, but I've seen your post from outside of my account, and I felt the need to clear up something:
Branding is not just about the logo. Branding is not just the font used for the name, or the name itself. Your brand is built by trust by the community.

Microsoft reaches half of the globe with the Windows operating system.
PlayStation reaches half of the gaming market with the console itself, and the games. People trust the brand.
Let's flip that; Xbox is a "brand" but is not even trusted much. The marketshare of Xbox keeps dwindling.
Call of Duty is a resilient brand, and went through 3 years of game releases with downward spirals. Advanced Warfare kinda sold well, but not enough to make a dent. Black Ops 4 bombed somewhat. (IMHO, I hate it because of the spawns. I like the gameplay, but the SPAWNS are TRASH.) Infinite Warfare bombed hard, but I kinda liked it. Especially Multiplayer, but it was panned at launch, so it doesn't have the spotlight it needed.

Right now, we are in another cycle - Modern Warfare 2019 sold so well, that Warzone blew up on launch.
Vanguard kinda panned at launch.
Black Ops Cold War panned at launch, but sold pretty well.
Modern Warfare II (2022) fell so hard, it's the definition of "bombed" at launch.
Modern Warfare III (2023) sold better because of Sledgehammer Games. Positive reception.
Black Ops 6 bombed so hard, it's $20 in some places like Costco.

People do trust Call of Duty, but that is fading little by little. Black Ops 6 is the straw that could break the camel's back. I just told you this is like 10 years of failures.

I think most of us are well aware of what all consists of branding.
Branding (in marketing terms) deals with making or creating of a positive image of a company, its products, and/or services. But the front facing logo construction used in advertising the business/site/whatever bears in the fore for association with the product.
In fact, in the very first post you have this
Their logo is the iconic "spark" that's come to represent great value.....
Do you think your community or your brand's logo is iconic, to be recognizable to your audience on its own?
which deals exactly with logos....
This thread was not how do you market (brand) your site to be distinct from others, but a discussion about having a distinctive logo. It clearly states it is talking about logos in the title.

So I am pretty sure we are talking about using logos for branding aspect here.

One of the big ways to do that is distinctive logos.
You see these and what immediately mind? No names or such have to be given.

They are almost all immediately recognized for what they represent by not even having to see a text of name with them.

But, since you also brought up trust of the community in reference to branding. Can you tell us what Suspended-FTB means in California for LLC's registered with them? I will save you the trouble. It means suspended by the franchise tax board. That happens when you either don't pay taxes due or you don't file the appropriate paperwork showing you owe none. You can lose your LLC protections (and the LLC actually is invalidated) for that.
Does not claiming something that is not true cause issues with that very trust?

This reminds me why I don't want to argue or respond to you. You can't stop trying to be an asshat. You will NEVER change unless someone goes to your face and starts talking shit to YOUR face and hurt your feelings.

You missed my whole point, and then you wanted to go to my personal life. Stuff that has NOTHING to do with the thread.

I don't know how the admin of this site even TOLERATES you. Or anyone on the XF staff.

I've spoken to Joel himself. You have been reported. Fucking son of a bitch.

What? That you were talking a totally off topic item in a thread devoted to logos?
That you made a comment on how important trust branding was?
That businesses that incorporate and either fail to pay taxes or report that they owe none lack that that ability of being granted trust?
Hey, I didn't bring up branding nor trust. You did.

As for being reported.. .I think this

Would get more traction for moderation than your hurt feelings for being called out on derailing a topic and having hypocrisy involving that very derailment pointed out to them.
BTW, please point out where I said anything about you in that question. Is there an issue in what I said that impacted close to home?
Apparently, but if the shoe fits. 👢

There is nothing wrong with letting an LLC die on the vine. But it does need to be cancelled properly and claims to being one should always cease to be after that point, as that does impact trust.
It's one of the reasons I am still debating starting an LLC for the astro site.

But, back to the topic at hand. As I've shown, logos can be an integral part of a your presence in the world of the internet and business. Some do not even need the name with them for you to immediately know what they represent.

You are the most stupidest person I have ever met. I regret even quote responding to you. I was actually calm. Very calm. And then you came into my personal life. MY BUSINESS IS MY PROBLEM. MY BUSINESS IS NOT YOURS TO FUCKING DOX. MY BUSINESS IS NOT....

YOUR BUSINESS.

If you ever see me in person, I advise you not approach me. I swear to God.

I swear. I swear to God.

Suggestion Carlos... go grab a nice cold drink and pick up your gaming console control and play a game. It may calm you down.
This type of behavior is what has caused you issues in the past.

And if I do see you.. after 15 years in LEO dealing with folks that thought they were bad-ass... I am not that worried.
But to make you feel good, I'll go back and edit some of that post that got you twisted.
Oops, can't edit time has expired.

You will be sorry. I would be worried. I'm not someone you'd be happy to piss off. You sit there, casually... like its nothing. One of these days, LEO or not ...especially with that careless attitude you've got there. I guarantee you, you will be shot. Not by my hand. Someone is gonna get pissed at you. Ok? This is not "haha" funny. No its not. You went into my personal life just for fun. And with no care to my brand.

One of these days you will offend someone so bad, I don't even need to be in the same room when it happens. You are that stupid.

I just explained something so common sense, and you asked me what you did is wrong? Bro, if you can't figure it out. Then you are so dumb, I guarantee you will die of not having a subconscious thought of what will happen in 5 seconds. Because that's all it takes.

I didn't come into this thread looking for an argument, but you wanted it.

When I talk to people in person, I try to be as nice as possible, up until they piss me off. I'm not going to go up to someone and start talking shit. No, that's unwise. People die every day over the most miniscule conversations. There are stories where people got shot only because of one word.

This guy, was standing outside calling people "nigger" up and down the street. You know what happened? He got shot. You never know who you offend. Never. They never conversed, had interactions. Nothing. The guy with the gun came around the block to shoot at him. Just one word.

I have a question for you. On your sites, if someone derailed a topic like you did here with something that was in no way associated with the topic... what action would you take? Would you tolerate it?

Split it off. But I WAS on topic you fucking retard.
Really? So the question of Do you have an iconic logo involves a lecture on branding a site and building trust?
Last time I checked, it generally used an answer of yes/no and possibly how do I create one.
Granted, branding is important, but that would be better for another thread.
But you do you.

Damn, it must feel good to be a retard, isn't it, Tracy-queer?

Oh, and of course you laughed at my post. Of course. Don't say I didn't warn you in that one moment it does happen. I'm not gonna laugh. I will only feel pity.

You know...? When that one XF moderator died... I was sad. I wasn't laughing. I argued with him over his decision. But you know what? I didn't laugh. It's not funny.

To get this back on topic... I'm still working on two for the NodeBB sites.
I am not quite where I want to be, but getting close.

Neo didn't like the original one I did for XFH, so I came up with this real quick. They are less graphically inclined than I am apparently as what they were wanting to use is what got me to working on one.

XFH_v3_logo.png

The astrophotography site mainly uses text and a play on using Jupiter in place of the letter "O" in Astro.

The OG logo's and touch icons are somewhat based on the original logos, but using a 512x512 format as recommended.
To me, the logo should have something related to the niche of the site in the case of web administration. It is not so important for B&M businesses, especially if they are involved in a large product line.
I'm far from a graphics artist, and if the sites take off they will get a paid logo made for them.

For my old recumbent site, I did have one made... it was simple and fit perfectly.

See, this is what I was talking about. You spent time worrying about the logo and the name. You put them into the same image.

Like the 4 hands...? What the fuck is that? Its "helping hand." And who the fuck is going to a "xenForo help forum"? There is a help forum: xenForo's own community. But you designed that board to be bash.zone 2.0 with dicks hanging out - in public.

Ideology Central? Nice name, but I doubt you know how that is going to work. In order for that board to actually work is YOU would need to know who is doing the ideology in the first place. The face/thought icon doesn't do anything. Anyone can do that. It is a generic "thought" image.

If I'm the owner of ideology Central, I'd need to be a corrupt piece of shit that will change your mind for worse. (Like tiktok)

The logo is not the defacto reason why the logo is iconic. Branding is what... MADE the icon/business.

I am the marketing person. And you thought i was going off topic? Psh. Bitch, please.

Really? Have you visited it or are you just running your professional potty mouth as usual?
We will all bow to you o' branding guru. You show your skills with every post in this thread, from the off-topic to the rants.
BTW, I just provide the server tech support and some assistance with NodeBB on XFH (as well as the VPS to host it on). They were on SMF. The admin is another XF licensee that was also tired of the XF game play over on the official site. Several of us got together and decided to start another site where the cultish behavior would not be tolerated, but they seem to not show up very much and I didn't have time to admin it, but I do participate there. It also gives those that are not able to go to the XF site to seek support somewhere to go. Normally I would say you would be welcome there.. but you probably wouldn't be.
IDC is my site.... but probably not where you would be allowed to participate. Rants aren't allowed on it.
With that, you become the only one on the ignore list here.

That's what it is. Now go there, and stay there with your merry band of queers.

I am not a "guru." Fuck off cocksucker.

Then.... uhh... use some other name. Having SMF as a forum for... a "xenForo" site? Not making any sense. NodeBB as xenForo help site? Not making sense.

Why would... I want to be on a forum about ideology? Hm? You wanna be brainwashed? Marketing guy says whomever wants a site like that is the same people who think like the "game players" on xenForo's own community.

I get that xenForo staff are hard to deal with, but they're not "game players." Which is what I think inspired this IDC site.

You guys are just stupid. You just don't want to understand them.
