Do you delete banned accounts?

I too won't delete banned accounts. Would make their profile and offensive posts invisible. Would insert a note in that profile, so that in the future would remember the reason why I have banned them in the first place and would blacklist them from opening a new account from the same Ip and mail-id.

I think that it is probably better to keep the banned accounts on the platform sometimes, because it can allow for other members to see their past content and in this way perhaps it will give them an indication as to the actions that lead up to them being banned in order to try and prevent them from making the same mistakes. However this can lead to clutter on the forum so there are pros and cons on both sides of this.

I do not. I will just rename the accounts and change the login details after banning the person. This way I will know who it is and they will no longer have access to the account at all. The only accounts that get deleted outright are spam accounts and they usually only have 1 to 5 posts anyways.

What is the point of renaming and changing the log in details of the account? Do you then give those details to another user that wishes to join in the forum or something of that nature? Is this a way of recycling the accounts to avoid the clutter in the forum that you are operating?

If there's ever a situation where I have to permanently ban somebody from the website, then I'm going to deactivate the account in such a way that their post is no longer going to be visible.

Like you, I won't remove blocked accounts.
would conceal their profile and inappropriate posts.
They would be blocked from creating new accounts using the same IP address and email address after I added a comment to their profile reminding them of the reason they were initially banned.

I think that banned accounts should not be removed at all. This is because it might be possible that you may need to review that account if a person appeals and you may need to restore the account.

I don't think banned accounts should be deleted at all. This is because if the user objects, we need to verify their account and we may need to restore their account.

at some point, you should definitely delete banned account especially when it is a permanent ban, if it is temporary then you can leave the account but if the user is not coming back again, no need to keep the account.

I don't own a forum currently but when i do own one, i won't delete banned accounts. I would keep them to remember why such users were banned.

If you're supposed to be reinstated I wouldn't delete because ordinarily, a ban would mean there's been a lot of havoc commited against the rules and regulations of the forum and doesn't warrant re- operation of such an account.

I would never ban a person just because they are inactive. They might be facing many issues in their personal life, which they may lead them to become inactive.

True but once the account has been inactive over a long period of time, I'm left with little or no choice because that's a user who's just occupying space and not utilizing it.

When you ban account, the user will not be able to access the account, so I think there is no need to delete the account. If you banned the user for low value content, you might delete all contents.
