It's expected that a forum owner try as much as possible to be very active on his or her community. Being active on his or her forum involves getting into content creation and commenting as well but this doesn't mean he will be posting comments on all threads created in his forum. It's going to be too much to ask of any forum owner.

As a forum owner, have you ever tasked yourself to comment/reply on all contents in your forum?

I comment on posts that interest me and always try to comment on a balanced number of posts.

Moderators and friends take care that no thread looks like death :)

I sometimes wish I had the time to answer everything =)

Nah, I don't comment or reply to everything. I let my forum do its thing, let users converse their own way. I come in sometimes to comment, but it's kind of rare. I also only comment on subjects I like.

But if there's not much activity, I might put up some topics and send out some replies.

It is always going to be very difficult for you to respond to every topic that have been created on your platform because as long as you have enough traffic and activities going on on the platform, it is going to be very hard for you to keep up with all of them and commenting all the time.

As a forum owner or moderator, it is important for me to focus on providing thoughtful and meaningful responses rather than simply aiming to reply to every single post. I make sure to engage in discussions where I can contribute value or help address member questions or concerns. By doing so, I aim to foster a sense of community and provide a helpful and supportive environment for forum members.

If your forum is something that is getting so many activities, it is going to be very difficult for you to comment on all the topics that have been created on the platform even if you are online the whole day doing one thing or another on your forum. Trying to do that will burn you out fast.

You can't even do it as long as your forum is active. As the owner, you have a life outside and that is something that should be considered when measuring how many posts that you get to reply on your forum. I won't get worried, if I am the owner, as long as the forum is very active.

Exactly my point. There's no way anyone is supposed to be expecting you to be actively posting on your community everyday especially when there is so much content that have been posted by several members of a community.

The only thing that you were supposed to do as the owner is to make sure that your presence is being felt by being active in a way that shows that you are not abandoning your community.

No, I cannot comment or reply on all the threads or posts in my forum. I cannot even read all the posts and threads in my forum because it's impossible. I won't have opinion in all the topics created by my members. It's the one's which I have something to reply to I would reply to.

When it comes to my forums, I tend to try and reply to every thread and even attempt to keep the conversation going within the thread as well if I am able to.

I feel as an owner of a forum, you should be willing to keep content flowing whether it be new content or current content.

It's having time to do all that most forum owners doesn't have. After working, it wouldn't be easy to catch up with all new threads and the discussions which have been happening for hours. Unless, the forum doesn't have much activity, it will be easier.

I don't want a topic that is useful, interesting, and evergreen to remain discarded. Therefore, if I see a value on the topic and if the topic does not have any posts, I always try to leave comments. Leaving comments will also push these topics into the feed and likely to bring engagements.

Exactly! Whenever I see that there's a lot that can still be discussed in a thread which I know that's going to bring in potential traffic to my forum, I'm definitely going to spike it with a new comment to push it up for others to see. This will definitely get them to add their own opinions to boost the discussion.

I don't think you need to answer everything, but it is good that you try to stay active and that you publish quality content and well-thought-out answers, this not only depends on whether you are the owner of the forum, but also if you are staff of the forum, activity is important, but quality is even more important from my perspective.

Not on all. For example, if it is about something I have no interest in or really have no knowledge about, there is no way to join there. An example would be a topic about NFL. I don't watch it and have no knowledge of it and can't discuss about it. That is unfortunate if somebody opens a topic and they are the only one to know the matter. So the topic will stay open but with 0 replies which is something I am not found of.

If I'm free from other things which I need to complete for the day, I will be stay active and engage my forum members. I realised forum members like it when the forum owner engages them in forum discussions.

You are right, if the forum owner is active, it lets users know that he is an owner who cares about his forum and his community, this will encourage members to stay active and create threads and posts.

Personally, I find it very difficult to understand the reason why someone will spend money and so many resources in starting a forum without having time to be active and engaging in that same particular community. When a person doesn't have time to run a forum, I don't think the person should waste the money and the whole effort in the beginning.
