Do I need capital to start a forum?

I don't think you need any capital to start a forum.
A forum is more like a blog, you get people engaged in interaction and various activities, so I don't think you need any capital to get it started
You may need to pay for the site the site though if you need someone to program it for you, but if you can do it, then it's better

Yeah, in every thing one does in this world he/she needs capital and to start a forum yeah, you need capital to have your own laptop, to buy data, to design your forum and others ethics.

I started my forum with $100. I already had a domain and hosting and my expenditure was mainly for content development (posts and articles) and marketing. However, I have not even made $20 from my forum.

I'm learning from the comments I've seen here cause I didnt know what a forum is or if it could actually generate any income.

You definitely will need a good sum of capital to run a forum. Because owning and running a forum is as running a regular business that you know. It is an investment
Yes. Capital is sure needed to start and keep a forum running.
One will need to create the website and still source for ways to pay users. I think money is involved.

You definitely need some money to start a forum , you need to buy a domain and you also need money for content development before you can start fully and continue to have traffic.

I understand that I need at least a laptop or computer and Internet to install a forum. I have not heard of someone who started a forum with their smartphone.

I think investing in forums can make you money after a short time but I need to hear this from those who earn from operating forums.

My main question is, do I need capital to start a forum, especially if I want to start a forum that pays writers while at the same time hiring a moderator. How does a forum start making you money and how long does it take?
Of course you need money to start 100 percent of the business you would go into. Getting the site set up would take most of the Capital and also you may want to pay for a mentor

Yes, starting a forum requires some amount of capital if you really want to make profit from it on the long run. You need to build responsive forum that will be easy for people to navigate. You also need to pay some people to create contents for you. You can also hire moderators.

I'd imagine you need basic hosting fees and it would be done through an App or paid service. Is there guides here on how to do it ?

Hosting is just part of it I own a forum and I never hosted it yet because from what I see forum like mine is a free forum and I think that I never hosted it yet. But the cost of buying more space to placed your ads will also be there I think it come with the hosting

Absolutely yes , you need at least $50 - $100 to get a domain name and hosting , that only only you are a websites developer but if you are giving the job to someone else , you are going to need more than that.

You are probably going to need a lot of money before you can start an online forum because you have to start paying people money for providing their time before you start getting sponsorship.

If you are interested to start a forums, you will need to buy a domain and you also needs to hire a website designer that will help you design your website. Then others will be determine if you are interested to start a ptp or just a normal forums.

It depends , if you are interested to start platforms like the paid to post you will not just need any capital but a reasonable amount of money to start. Payments of members will be done from your pocket most especially at the early stage of establishing a forum

Starting a forum sites all depends on your skills and your ability to build a forum sites , maintain it and be able to drive traffic to your forum sites , some need a lot of money while some just needed a little amount of money .

Bulletin boards have been a common way to distribute information and connect with those who share your interests since the early days of the World Wide Web and even earlier days of physically posting your message in a specified location. Even better, 90 percent of forum owners claim that online communities improve sales, lead opportunities, SEO, total traffic, and customer retention.

This is true that they are increasing your revenue as website owner especially if you have a good community of people that are on your website then such monetization will become easier for you.

One can not start any business or forum and tell me he or she do not spend anything that is to say, that the forum is not a legit forum. Maybe it is make by a web development out of practicing.

Let us first start from building your website/platform. Because you have a laptop does not turn you into an app or website developer, you will start spending money from there, you will still have to be pay people that will be moderating the forum for you because you can't do everything yourself. So yes, you will need enough capital to start a your forum platform
