How is the staff segmentation and positioning set up in your workplace? Does every worker stay in the same office but with different desk or take together with your boss in the same space or does your boss have his or her own separate office which might be on a different floor entirely? Personally, I hate been in the same line of sight with my boss, I will be very uncomfortable.

In many places bosses have a different cabin entirely. They usually hire supervisors who may stick to employees because they need to monitor the progress. Many bank managers also have a different segment in our country. Despite this, they usually visit the section where employees might be working.

When I worked at the call center for example, everyone was assessible, as in our supervisors were within reaching distance most of the time. Or if they weren't nearby, we'd just raise our hands until they came by to help. My main supervisor was down a couple cubicles to me, so if I needed anything I could raise my hand and wait, or put my caller on hold an go right up to him and ask for help.

It's different in every job though. Some bosses or managers will be secluded, or away from the staff. Likely an office or room separate from everyone else.

As long as the supervisors are not breathing down my neck when it comes to doing my job, it's something that I can be able to handle but in a situation whereby they are adding unnecessary extra pressure on me whenever I am on duty, it is going to make it very difficult for me to carry out my duties.

The role of supervisor could be important. Supervisor's is to monitor the progress of the work. In many cases, they receive orders from managers and this is why they have to implement many things and make sure things are in order, so it may not be their fault in a direct manner.

No where I work offline I think we had many department and section for senior workers so all of us don't work in the same environment

I am not actually against having a supervisor where I am working but where it is going to be a very big challenge is when the supervisor is getting in my face all the time when I am trying to do my work which I know exactly how to do. So I don't see any reason why he or she would have to breath down my neck like I am someone who is still learning how to work.

This reminds me of a job I had in the past. I used to work in a place where they had a few supervisors who used to roam here and there all the time. However, they were needed because we had to forward the phone calls to them. So, it all depends on the kind of job you have.

If I just have to forward anything or give updates to my supervisor, I don't have any problems with that. We do it all the time. I don't even mind taking it to his or her office. Imagine the situation where your supervisor stands beside you mopping at you when you're working. It's absurd.

Yes, you're right; working in front of your boss might be uncomfortable for you because you constantly feel conscious that someone is observing your actions. You cannot work or behave naturally. But that's not the case with every boss, especially when your boss is a kind and friendly person.

Seriously, even if my boss is a kind and friendly person, I would still need my own space away from him to work. I don't know why I'm like that but it's how I'm wired. I will just be restless with my boss or supervisor too close to me. I would even be a lot more comfortable when he's not around at all.

Yes, you're right; sometimes, even if your boss is friendly, you can still feel uncomfortable unless he/she is a family member or friend.

I think it's out of respect or hesitation that people feel towards them (bosses), and they consider them an authority figure only.

Exactly! I think it's something like that for me. I need him to stay in his place of authority when I'm working in my own jurisdiction.

I will definitely work better with more productive with him being far from me than him being closer to me.

I'm not really an employee but I do know a thing or two about this very topic. I guess it's a thing for bosses to have their own separate office and it actually give more respect and recognition to that very individual or position in general.

In my last job, I did not have a separate chamber. I had to work with two other people in the same room. I was a manager looking after accountants and supervisors. My staff worked in the same room.

Yeah, that's very correct. It's always better for a business owner to have his own office different from where all of his workers are working. It gives him more respect to work like that with his workers because too much familiarity breeds insults.

The privacy, too, that comes with this kind of setup is very important. You want to have a setting where, before a staff member will see the boss, they will have to go through the next door. I can remember my boss doing this at his office and started to have better results at the workplace.

There should always be something to differentiate the office of the business owner and the general employees because it is going to give a kind of respect and authority to the person when a customer comes into the business environment trying to engage in any kind of business transaction.

Each and every office and workplace may have a really different settings. So, not all the workplace may have a similar kind of workplace under all conditions. There are many workplaces where employees work right in front of boss and I used to work in such kind of company.
