Okay, so I brought this topic up a while ago on another forum and thought it would be a nice discussion to put here, so here it is.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/tough-words-judge-sends-abuse-victim-jail/story?id=34324384
The judge sentenced a domestic violence victim to 3 days in jail for not appearing to a hearing that would have put her abuser in jail for a pretty long period of time, but since she didn't testify, not much happened to him.
Honestly, community service would have been better, but I understand where she is coming from. I feel for the lady I do, but she was summoned to court, required to show up, and she didn't because she didn't want to face her abuser. Honestly, that's not much of an excuse, because now he can be on the streets and could do this all over again all because she didn't want to be in the same room with him for one last time.
Ya'lls thoughts?
