CompuServe forums are shutting down

CompuServe forums will be closing for good on December 15, 2017. Before the Internet arrived, It was the first online forums for people from long distances to use to communicate with one another. Users used the old style dial-up modem method to access it's central servers. It was the prototype to today's modern forums and had the very first online group conversations concerning religion, politics, and more.



CompuServe's still-active forums are finally shutting down

What are your thoughts about CompuServe forums closing down? Did you ever use it?

I’ve actually never even heard of CompuServe before. I guess this is before my time.

They have been around for years. Damn I am old. lol

A number of people still used it from what I understand, so there are no doubt some unhappy users out there. We owe a lot to the CompuServe forums. It was of course the predecessor of the forum community as we know it. Without it, forums probably wouldn't even be here.
