In contrast to bonds, which are loans from you to a company or government, stocks give you a portion of ownership in a corporation.
Stokcs must recognize value while boundaries gradually pay a set interest rate.

i have perfectly have a clue about how the stock markets operate and what are the things that drive the market, but that is not the case with bond for me as i do not have any clue about it.

That is absolutely correct,you will have the leverage of owning part of the firm,depending on your holdings,while bonds are usually issued out by government for a fixed period of time.
