Advertising/PR Staff Group

Have you ever had a staff group specifically to promote/advertise your board on other forums? How did/does it work out? If not, why don't you?

I've never thought to make a usergroup to help promote the site. I think in the past on one of my communities, I did mention once that if I got people to promote the site they had a chance of being a moderator on the forum though. This was during the time I first made a forum.

I don't really see the benefits for the staff members, except for a staff rank. Obviously if you paid/rewarded them then that would be a different story. I'd rather just encourage normal staff such as moderators or admins to promote the site or reward normal users with free premium upgrades or badges etc.

The only way I think it would work is if you hired the staff member as an intern and made your forum a registered LLC or business significance in your country.

Then you could offer the benefit of being a professional work reference.

Otherwise, marketing tasks should stay with the forum owner.

Nope, I end up doing that myself. I do not think most would join to work as a promotion unless they are willing to do so. If so then you need to give them resources for them to be able to do what they intended to do. Anyone good with SEO? Xd

I don't think I've ever done this, but it would be an interesting concept if it actually worked out. Having your staff members have your advertisement in their signature and they post actively on similar boards could probably bring in some new members from time to time.
