Advantages and Disadvantages of using Wordpress to Create an Online Store

The prons is
Free and easy to use
Currently, WordPress is the most popular content management system (CMS) because of its simple and quick installation process. Its WooCommerce plugin allows conversion of a website into an e-commerce store without any technical expertise

The cons limited support for e-commerce issues
Since users have to install WooCommerce to start the e-commerce store, the support for plugin is not as good as for the platform itself. If they get stuck or the things go wrong with the storefront, there will be a need to approach third-parties or experienced WordPress developers to get things fixed.

The first true advantage is the easy installation. The installation takes only a few minutes of your time. Finding the right theme and layout takes more time than the actual WordPress core installation. A custom theme is what most businesses purchase when they want to work with WordPress. You can buy a theme from a market such as ThemeForest or hire a custom designer. A designer can create a theme that matches your current business model, site design, and logo, so it’s a more professional option.

Generally speaking, you can create an online store in two different ways: one, you start from scratch and start coding; two, you use ecommerce content management system. For content management system, there are many options. Here we are sharing the benefits of using wordpress to create an online store.

Advantages of using Wordpress to create an online store

Does not cost you any money. These days shopify is very popular but you have to pay $29 per month.

Easy to use. There are other free CMS like Drupal and Joomla that you can use to create an online store, however, these CMS are not easy to use. They require some programming skills. However, with Wordpress, you can create an online store with zero programming skills.

You can create a dropship site, an online store with your own inventory, as well as multi vendor site with wordpress

Disadvantages of WordPress for online store

Wordpress is free but you will still have to use theme, plugins and addons that cost you money.

Wordpress is prone to attack

Wordpress has limitation when it comes to multi vendor site or big ecommerce site (lot of products and users)
This is a complete article that is not only well writing but informative. Furthermore, World press puts you at a disadvantage of not knowing how to code. It is not challenging as a computer scientist would like. This too can be an advantage as it makes work done easier than other platforms.

I do not like using it at all because to me I don't consider it as the best way of establishing a stable website I will rather take the risk and buy a.com domain and start using it because that's the one I know and that's one of the most popular website a lot of people are using

Concerning the advantages and disadvantages of using wordpress to creating or designing a website. A fundermantal knowledge about the wordpress by a user can be used to create a blog or site because it is very simple and easy to use. The disadvantage about it is that it is prone to attack, the page response are at times slow, there is always a need for frequent plugins update

WooCommerce slows down when the scale of operations increases. It isn't capable of handling large databases. So, think about how big you want your ecommerce business to be before opting for WordPress to build it.

WordPress is free, except you pay for the plugin during the creation of the e-commerce. The major challenge in it is the WordPress website logo, which may display behind. Well, aside that, I doubt if there is any other disadvantage.

yes, you need plugins for additional features. You also need frequent theme and plugin updates, what's the problem with this? Every script need frequent updates. Wordpress site can be slower compared to other scripts, but they are not that slower where you have to wait for hours for the page to load. I don't agree when you say poor SEO ranking. Wordpress is SEO friendly content management system. Why would the site g down without notice and closed when you are running a self-hosted site?

I don't think there is much disadvantages of using WordPress content management system to Design an online store. For example its always easy and super fast for those who doesn't have any programming language experience to design there website with WordPress and this gives them the room to also monitize it.

Although it is free but you still have to use plug ins and the likes on it. I think it is cheaper in terms of cost efficiency to use WordPress than others. I haven't really created a site or anything like it but I know a little about it.

It was only recently when I met an old friend who is into e commerce I got to know about word press. He said he made use of word press and that he was not planning on changing it any time soon that he felt secure with it and it was relatively cheap.

When you are using free wordpress, you not only get a subdomain but also limited to monetize your site, you cannot use ads from ad networks like adsense and infolinks. Even though you can use affiliate link on free wordpress, some affiliate networks do not accept free wordpress site. The best method of using wordpress is by buying a domain and hosting.

PROS
  • Easy to customize.
  • SEO already set.
  • Nice look and user interface.
CONS.
  • Cannot be integrated with other third-party apps.
  • The themes available are low quality and already used by many other webiste.
  • The theme selections are limited.

If you are planning big and if you want a proper online store, you should use ecommerce content management system instead of a common content management system like wordpress. I recommend pretashop or mengato.

I think wordpress will be the best option if you want to create a small store. You will be spending a small amount in site development and you can focus on marketing and advertising so that you can generate sales.

You're absolutely right with your analysis, a developer helped create my WordPress site but I'm managing it myself now, I tried to add another shop with woo commerce but I discovered I couldn't, overall I still love it as it's very beginner friendly

Almost all has been said here. I think what stands out is the fact that WordPress is versatile, and has man developers working around the clock to develop new features and plugins for Wordpress. But on the other hand, it has a steep learning curve for newbies.
