Adult gamers = irresponsible?

It is really sad that the society has not yet matured enough to accept gaming as a part of our life. I've known people who don't like adults who spend a lot of time gaming. They would make assumptions like the person is irresponsible, unstable, not dependable, childish, immature etc. Just because a person likes to play games in his free time, he is criticized this way. I know a friend who was telling me one day, "Man, I have a problem.", I asked about it and he replied, "I've grown up so much but still I play games!". I was like, dude, there's nothing wrong in it. It's just a hobby just like any other "normal" hobby. Just do what you love to do, don't care about what others think.

Let me know if you come across people like these in your surrounding.

My dad and mom are in their fifties and they play Pokemon GO consistently. I know of lots of elderly people who play the game too. The assumption that gamers are irresponsible is nothing more than a stereotype, and a dumb one at that. My dad was playing Pokemon GO once and a guy asked him, "Aren't you too old to be playing that game?" Let people attend whatever hobbies they wish without bashing them. It's their life and their freedom to choose what hobbies they enjoy.

(As I take a break from playing through ,for the 8th time, the Handsome Jack character in Borderlands Pre-Sequel)... nope, don't play games.. just ignore the xBox 360, the xBox One X, the xBox Series S, the PS2, PS3, PS5 sitting beside the 50" 4K TV. They are all a figment of your imagination....

I find that people think that gaming = immature. No. It's that most people interesting in gaming have ADHD in my opinion. People with ADHD frequently, not always, have a lower maturity level than those their age. I've heard about 3-5 years possibly of age maturity difference. I've witnessed this myself and it's interesting. It just so happens many people with ADHD also enjoy gaming as there is just so much going on and it honestly can feel good for the gamer and the senses. Really anyone can be a gamer though and not only people with ADHD, just an observation I've noticed.

I'm a gamer, but I have a high level of maturity lol. As you age though, things that were once funny aren't as funny anymore.

I hear jokes sometimes but I think this is dying down. Adults now had access to more affordable and entertaining games then ever before and more adults and future adults well have much more gaming experience then previous generations, and understand it is not really linked to immaturity.

Almost everyone I know my age games, rather console, pc, or even mobile.

Dang... birthday in a few days... my xBox One X (when it was referred to as Scorpio) finally decided (for the second time in its life) to quit reading the discs... and of course the S series I have doesn't READ discs...
What do I find in my computer chair when I woke up from my nap yesterday (actually my normal sleep)... but a brand new xBox X series 1TB unit from my son as an early BD gift.
Now I have to decide if I want to continue wasting my time playing games (they are fun!) or tell him thanks, but to save himself the money and get him something he wants (I know, that sound ungrateful, but I don't expect gifts like that from him).

I watched a "motivational" video at work a few weeks ago. In the video the guy narrating it said that "you've got people who are only adults because of their age, but they play video games and that makes them immature." That's not how it works, if someone is legally a specific age they are an adult no matter what hobbies they're into. I don't get this mindset at all, and it's usually these types of comments being made by people who love to watch sports. :V Just let people enjoy things, life is too short!

Series x is a beautiful machine. The whole Xbox game pass overall has really given me a new fresh of air with so many new game types I wouldn’t normally spend money on! Seems like a good son I’m sure he’ll understand whatever option you choose.
