This is a review of Mesozoic Haven - this cool looking dinosaur community is owned by @kensonplays. You may also view a link directory containing more information here: Mesozoic Haven - A Clean, PG Community of Dinosaur Lovers
Mesozoic Haven, owned by @kensonplays, is a vibrant online community that caters to dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages. With a clean and family-friendly environment, this forum invites members to dive into the prehistoric world, share their passion for dinosaurs, and connect with like-minded individuals. As an active participant in Mesozoic Haven, I have had the opportunity to explore various aspects of the forum, and I am excited to share my experiences with you.

In this review, I provide my honest opinion about this forum and explain what the Administrator is doing right, or could be improved. I'm in no way a review expert, just stating my opinion.

Forum Purpose and Niche (7/10):
Mesozoic Haven revolves around one central theme: dinosaurs! The forum is dedicated to discussing all things related to these fascinating creatures, including scientific discoveries, dinosaur-themed media, and much more. Whether you are an amateur dinosaur enthusiast or a seasoned paleontologist, Mesozoic Haven offers a welcoming space to delve into the ancient world and feed your curiosity. It's a very unique niche, which I haven't seen around before. So, while this is unique, it will also face some challenges.

User Interface and Design (7/10):
I'm personally not a fan of red themes. Red reminds me of danger, which is often not a color scheme you want on your website. However, this does seem to fit well with the niche and overall it's not bad designed too. The reds used go well with each other, without tearing up my eyes. I like the background and find that a nice touch to the forum. I would perhaps personally use a darker category title background.

Personally I would get rid of the google ads, they don't blend in well, as well as make the sidebar too long. If you do insist on keeping them, I would place the ones on the forum view more center, and just get rid of the sidebar one. The Great Valley category is the only category with a description. I advice either to get rid of it, or add descriptions to the other categories. Otherwise there isn't much I can advice to improve.

Content Quality (7/10):
Mesozoic Haven boasts a remarkable standard of content quality. The articles and blogs are insightful and well-researched, making it a fun read filled of knowledge. The forums lack a bit content, but I see you are working on that and have requested a posting package in our services center. Articles however are far more important, so keep it up!

Activity Level (6/10):
This tends to hang together with the fact that your forums lack some content, so can't really go in depth with this. However, considering the fact that you're working on having more activity, I'll give you a OK-score.

Overall Score: 27/40

Pros:

  1. Family-friendly and clean environment.
  2. Engaging and respectful community.
  3. High-quality, educational content.
  4. Well-designed interface with cool graphics.
Cons:
Discussion forums lack some content. But there's still lots to read in the articles and blogs.

Recommendation:
Mesozoic Haven is a must-visit destination for anyone passionate about dinosaurs and the prehistoric world. Its commitment to creating a clean, PG environment while providing a wealth of valuable information makes it an exceptional community to be a part of.

Thanks for the review! The content amount issue is cause the install is pretty new, we were a read-only Wordpress site for a couple years, but now that we have a Forum, we're hoping to build upon that!

Activity level will increase as time goes on, of course, not much we can do in regards to that without doing some google ads or promotion on sites that allow it. (most subreddits have a rule against self promotion in the dinosaur niche)

As for the ads, I don't see them since I have ads turned off for staff and paid subs. But I could maybe limit it to one in the sidebar and and at top of forum list but not in-threads.

Thanks for your input, I'll look into that after my live stream soon!

You're welcome. I may redo this review in a couple of months when you've build some more content. :) Good luck Ken, you can do it! ;)
