Your online community should be a drug

In today's Community Snippet I will take you through some advise and also explain why we are all Admin Junkies. We're all committed and addicted to forums.

"For your community to be successful, it needs to be like a drug."

Starting a new online community is a huge challenge. Not only do you need to attract visitors and convert them into members, you also need to ensure they return to your website frequently and get involved.

Never think that once a visitor has become a member of your site, your work is done. You need to ensure that every person that visits your site will remember it.

By keeping your site in their minds, they are far more likely to return and get involved.

Never let the visitor forget your community

Hey, it's pretty weird when someone signs up for your community and then poof disappears into thin air, right? It happens more often than you'd think! Sometimes, they'll even show up, start posting, and then vanish without a trace. *cue mysterious music*

But fear not, oh wise community manager! It's your job to make sure that doesn't happen. You've gotta make your community so damn unforgettable that once someone stumbles upon it, they can't help but keep coming back for more. Make 'em addicted to your awesome content, and they'll be itching to contribute and be a part of the gang. So get to work, friends!

For your community to be successful, it needs to be like a drug.

Methods to ensure a visitor remembers your community

Listen up, community builders! If you want your online hub to be the talk of the town, you gotta have content that's unique, juicy, and straight-up irresistible. If it's dull and boring, people will forget about you faster than you can say "content flop."

And hey, looks matter too! If your site design looks like it was pulled from the bargain bin, you can't blame people for not remembering you. Customize that bad boy, make it unique, and give it a personality that'll stand out in the crowd.

But don't forget the most important part: the people. Every username represents a real human being, with thoughts and feelings and opinions. Welcome them, get to know 'em, address 'em by name, and form a bond that'll last a lifetime (or at least until they inevitably switch to the next big thing).

And don't forget to keep in touch! Send out newsletters that are chock-full of interesting, can't-miss content. Give 'em a reason to click and come back for more.

So let's make it a challenge, folks! Refuse to let your visitors forget about your site. Give 'em something they can't get enough of, and watch 'em keep coming back for more.

What methods do you employ to ensure visitors don’t forget about your website?

What methods do you employ to ensure visitors don’t forget about your website?
1. Appearance! Making a good impression is always important. I believe a good layout, not too big and not too small is important. The theme choices are important, but also make sure the default theme is a favorite and can make at least majority happy.

2. Content - Making sure there are topics that may interest everyone that would be interested in the type of niche forum I have. Do not open a forum with no topics created, because it can be hard for users to start creating their own topics!

3. Contests of some sort. What is the current "cool" thing. Try to implement it somehow on the forum. I've done flash game contests just to get people involved. Photo of the week, where a person can post a photo from their week and the best photo wins. Having posting contests. Having unique contests to your niche!

4. Forum emails and communication - getting in contact with members outside the forum as well as outside of emails. Try to have members on your social medias or messengers. The more they see your name they will be reminded of the forum you intend for them to be on. You don't need to mention the forum frequently, because when they see your name they will eventually remember and associate you as the "xyz forum" person.
