Have you ever worked on multiple forums as a moderator or admin?

Have you ever come across someone who said you cannot be staff on other forums? You have to focus all your attention on their forum? If you haven't seen that, how would you react if someone tried to impose those limitations on you?

As people on the internet, we can do whatever we want, staff at whatever forum we want, staff as many forums as we want. Control freak admins can kick rocks.

That being said being staff at a multiple of forums is not for me personally. I take staff roles seriously so I feel like I wouldn't be the best I could be if I spread myself too thin.

I have worked simultaneously on multiple forums. If a forum owner tells me to to be exclusively on his forum and abandon other forum, he must also compensate me financially and the compensation should be something that would make me work only on hs forum

Well, I'm always open to having a compromise when it comes to any kind of working arrangement. When this request is put in for me by a forum owner, we are going to discuss payment arrangement. It must be something that I would like otherwise I won't accept it because I have what I gain from working on other projects.

This is good. There are times when the kind of activities that is ongoing on a forum will make the forum owner desire exclusivity of my services. If you are seeking for that, then you should compensate me in a particular way as well. That is how I can feel less pain not been on the other forum.

As someone who works online, I know myself how much I can handle when it comes to work and being staff on forums and I feel I should be the one to say when I feel that I am taking on too much and step down if I feel I need to.

If someone wants me to work exclusively on their forum and nowhere else, it is something I would consider but it wouldn't be something I would consider for nothing and I would want to be compensated for my work and my exclusivity.

I have in the past been approached by staff members and asked to be exclusive to only their forums but they expected it to be for a minimal amount or no payment at all and that is something I refuse to do.

I've been a part of some forums that say you cannot be a part of the forum of the same or similar niche, or a specific board that causes drama and makes themselves out to be enemies of the forum I'm currently staff on. Most communities I've been staffed on have not enforced such a rule, however.

If the work is entirely volunteer-based, can a forum ask you to exclusively work for them? Certainly not. If the forum is paying a small amount for your work, can the owner ask you to just work for him, certainly not!

It is never going to be possible for you to demand anything from someone that you are not paying. This is the reason why I believe that no forum project that is having their staffs to be on volunteer-based arrangement to demand this kind of thing from them. There is no justification for asking them not to work on a project that is going to pay them or even that they want to still volunteer to help them out.
