Would You Rather - Webmaster Edition #1

Welcome to our first would you rather (webmaster edition!) We will begin posting these and we would love to give you a proposition and you pick which one and explain why (if possible!)

Would you rather own a forum with 10 members but 1 million posts, or 1 million members with 10 posts each?

I'd rather own a forum with 1 million members with 10 posts each. It'd be quite an achievement to have that many people on one community and that'd be a lot of posts too! I think it could get overwhelming though, so I'd like to have at least one or two other staff members helping out on the community.

1 million members with 10 posts each. Quite the accomplishment IMHO.

The latter, of course. More members, and more posts than the former.

The second as long as it wasn’t like a make 10 post get paid niche! But getting a million people to sign up and make a few post is a great feat.

I am going to say.... It depends on context. If the few post are Ace level. It will bring more traffic than a million members. Why? Because the search engine never considers how many users you have

I would go with one million posts because I would know those ten members are incredibly loyal if they have made one million posts between them.

I would prefer owning a forum with 1 million members with 10 posts each. Reason? Even if each member makes 1 post in a day, daily 1M posts will be contributed to the forum. The 1st option stands no chance in comparison to it.

Posts are nice but having active members with that amount of posts is even better I say

I've been thinking of an answer for this...

I think I would rather own a forum with 10 members and 1 million posts. Those 10 members will likely be the best of friends, talk about everything, and are able to be the community they need! If it was 1 million members with 10 posts each there would likely be no relationships possible.

members come and go, while the writings remain as a treasure that will be re-read so often that you will never be left without a member.

You could put it another way and instead ask if you wanted a forum with ten people you gotten to know well, developed deep bonds with and would do anything to help you and their community out because such a group would see the forum as ours rather then any one person versus a forum filled with lots of people who don't know each other at all, likely wouldn't care to do anything for the forum if asked as they have no reason to and might have already all left long ago.

BTW, I voted for the first option.

Owning a forum with 1 million members with 10 posts each would have to get my vote. That's a pretty decent member-to-post ratio considering a majority of my members have 0 posts. Also, the more people you see post around the board the more interesting discussions you will likely have. Having the same 10 people post over and over again you would see the same or similar opinions on most subjects, whereas you would have a variety of opinions that make it more interesting.
