Would you live in a RV?

I've seen people on youtube literally uproot their families and lives to go live on the road in fully furnished and upgraded RVs and buses. If given the opportunity to be on the road, would you do it?

We contemplated full timing (which is what that is referred to) not to long ago. We discussed selling the house and investing the returns and upgrading our current RV rig, but decided it's really easier to have a fall back location of a house. We can take several 1-2 month trips during the year and set the house up as an Airbnb rental for when we are not using and contract any maintenance for us while we are gone with a local company.
There are many downfalls that RV life will present. To get a true 4 season RV, you are going to be looking at around $100,000-$150,000 for one that is designed for full time living. When you look at the $30K RV's you will find that most of them will invalidate any warranty if you live in it full time. They are not designed for that type of use.
There are certain life-style changes you have to make. Long showers are a thing of the past typically, especially in the winter. You have to be concerned in the winter with making sure your tanks don't freeze, and your water supply is generally a water hose from an above ground spigot, which tends to freeze up. That's why most that do this life mosey around following the more moderate temperatures, but even winter in Florida or Texas can become brutal.

I see this often too and some of the RVs I see, and they look amazing.

I would say given the chance to uproot my family and live on the road in an RV, not sure I could do it, I would always be worried about the dangers of living on the road no matter how secure my RV was.

If one has little ones not in school, it is a workable solution, but once they get of school age, they will miss out on so much outside interaction with others their age if they are home schooled, which most are.
Full timing is best done if single, a couple or an older couple with no children/grandchildren present (furbies don't count!).
There are some with school age children that do it, but honestly I believe you do a grave disservice to your children when you isolate them from others their age in a good school environment. They do not learn how to interact with others, and that carries over to their adulthood.

Being a person once homeless, I would see that as a paradise. I don't really care what others think about it - and it doesn't have to be on the road, it could be parked all the time in one place.

Also, the modern RVs aren't cheesy looking. They are cool and futuristic. I'd actually like to buy one.

Our son is moving to Arkansas in the near future to take up another accounting job. Before he does he has to get his CPA license transfer stuff done.
He was sweating about trying to find a place to stay with the housing market the way it is. We pointed out to him that we have the RV that he can take up there and stay in until he finds a place he likes. He didn't think we would let him use it for that long in case we wanted to use it. Just have to get him trained up in the ins and outs of living in an RV during the cold weather months (and living in one in general) compared to being in a house/apartment before then.
