The idea behind it is "non-profit". Nonetheless, a lot of commercial sites have used it, but I think it's becoming less a trend now. Anyway, I think it's silly to use it for commercial sites. It just doesn't fit the subject.

It is popular but not as much as .com and .net
I never thought of using it before but it does sound fancy. I am sure there are many other websites which makes use of this TLD. I like the TLD but I won't be using it. I try not to make any mistakes, when it comes to these things.

It's better to avoid this TLD for a normal website or blog, in my opinion.

It was actually popular in my country 2005-2010 many .org sites popped out like mushrooms after the rain, though with time maybe my focus changed but I didn t see many lately.

.org is no longer so popular today, at least in my country but it was a good extension, especially for organizations.

I have never used org extension, however, a couple of montha ago, I bought a org domain for a client and built a website on that domain. I think ianis a nice domain. Unlike those new domains with high registration price the price for this domain is low.

Our organization is a non-profit that was on the dot com initially. It was the contractor of the web design that made that decision. When there was a problem with the contractor (for a one-sided contract that was rescinded) the website moved to another domain name but still in dot com. When I came in as a technical consultant we waited until the domain name had expired before moving to dot org. It was cheaper and it was more appropriate for the website's nature.

.org is a good alternative to .com domains but .org was initially intended for nonprofit organizations and charity. But it doesn't mean you can't use it even for a business website. Sometimes it is better than using the popular.com.

.org extension isn't fit and good for a commercial website. Different search engine Tends to give high value ranking to .com extension on their search engine and that's why most people usually go for .com while buying there domain and hosting. As a business owner getting .org for your website won't do you good because of ranking

Sometimes the line between non-profit and profit is debatable sometimes. For instance, someone could have a free show on public TV and then use it sell products offline, though, not directly from the show. However, though, everyone has to make a living, right?

Originally meant for websites for non-profit and non-commercial organizations, org is a nice extension. I have a website using org extension. I wanted to register a domain with com extension. Since com was already taken, I chose org extension. If I had to use com I was supposed to make some compromise, however, for org extension, I got the name I wanted.

org is a nice domain extension, which was originally build for no profit organizations (unlike dot com which was primarily meant for commercial websites). However, these anyone uses any kind of domain names.

.org is specially design for different type of organization like not profit kind of organization, NGO or religious/community type of organization which use it for their name. It is easy for them to remember.

Dot org was originally meant for organizations, especially for non profit organizations. However, over the years, it has lost its original intention. These days org domains are used for almost anything including a blog.

I love the .org domain extension as it is very good and it is highly multi-purpose as you can use it for any form of website although most people use it for an organisational website.

Nice piece, never knew for org was initially used for non profit sites, thats good to know and also it can also be used for profit too but just most common as a non profit domain

I like org domain but I have not tried this domain too frequently. If you want to build a website for an organzation, org will be the ideal choice, but you can also use for almost anything
