Who is allowed to ban?

Who do you allow to ban members on your forum? All staff or just admins?

I allow my staff to ban so they can quickly ban any spammers. I also allow them to issue short 3 day bans at their discretion. However for longer bans, or permanent bans, there is usually a discussion before anything happens.

Normally I prefer to have this right exclusive to owner and super moderator as too mane moderators means they can make mistake and take wrong decision. I normally create team only forum were they can discuss before banning someone.

If I have a forum I will give the power of banning members to my moderators because they are a major stakeholder in the forum and so they should have the ability to caution members there whenever they break the rules and the rules will be clearly spelt out.

Banning a spammer must be the work of an admin of the websites, though the admin cannot scan through all the post on the forum sites, so it's also the work of the staff's to monitor then member and report any irregularity to the admin to take the final step.

Is a good one you doing out there tho,by allowing your member to ban each other, but remember some members can misuse the opportunity been giving to them as well.

I think its best to give such power to a selected group of persons and not all staff in other to avoid misuse and abuse of power. And to also control how policies are being carried out

As long you can trust your staff concerning some cases, I think its a good idea to entrust some level of ban into there hands although not any kind of ban anyways...

I think apart from admins, moderators should also be allowed to ban members. However, if you allowing moderators to ban members, make sure to hire a hood moderator.

This is actually a good strategy, not to put the whole work on just one person and to make the site very effective but I think that the administrators should consider loosening on bans that take long

I will prefer that I use only my admins to do the banning on my forums. This is because he has the humility and experience to not over reach his emotions before handing the ban unlike some or most staffs

On a forum I belong to outside here, all moderators are able to ban you. What I don't like about that forum is that the moderators ban people for silly reasons.

The responsibility of banning law brokers from forums should be the function of the admin. They are the ones in charge of the rules and can be lenient at times. Moderators are also useful but I think final decision should be made by the admin.

I think it's the major responsibility of the admin to ban a member just because they are the one handling the affairs of the website and not the members and I think that is the best decision to take

I think the admins should be given such responsible because they will be able to monitor and close check properly before such actions are taken to avoid unfair banning

If i have a forum, then banning would be the work of the moderators and that would be temporary. I'll try to go over those banned myself because moderators can make mistakes sometimes.

I think the moderators should be the one to ban an account and it should be on a temporary basis except the offence committed is too grievous.

I think there should be voting from the admin, moderators and staff and the user should be banned only when the majority of the staff members want the user to be banned.

If I have a forum I will ban people that violate the rules myself. You can even give the moderators of the forum but for me I will do it myself.
